Artist Statement
The four collages in this exhibit, “Imagine Your Dreams,” represent different aspects of my dreams: (1) in Winged Metamorphosis, I imagined that I could transform myself into a butterfly and fly, (2) Sunbeam Blossom and Midsummer Awakening represent my dreams in which I yearn to live harmoniously with nature in order to ensure the future survival of our planet, and (3) Nighttime Musings signifies the jumbled dreams I have that seem to make no sense without reflection.
Bio
Yvonne has a bachelor of science degree in sociology, a master of public health degree and a law degree. She practiced law for ten years and then became a professional fundraiser for a number of national and international nonprofit organizations utilizing her excellent legal and communication skills. About fifteen years ago when her kids left for college (i.e, when Yvonne finally had some time to herself) Yvonne began making scrapbooks of family vacations. She found she enjoyed the hands-on technique of “cut and paste” scrapbooking. A visit to Sarasota’s Marietta Museum of Art and Whimsy last year prompted Yvonne to try her hand at mixed media collage, a perfect segue from scrapbooking. Yvonne has just completed an experimental collage workshop and plans to exhibit her work at a local art show this fall.
